Coast 2 Coast Trucking will invest $3.765 million to establish new company
The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors and The Town Council of Kenbridge together with the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission announced today that Coast 2 Coast Trucking, Inc., a sister company to ABC Recycling, will invest $3.765 million to establish its new company in Lunenburg County. Virginia successfully competed against New York for this project which will create 21 new jobs including full time truck drivers, mechanics and office personnel. Coast 2 Coast is locating across the street from its sister company, ABC Recycling, in the Lunenburg Commercentre’, Kenbridge, Virginia.
This new company will receive a performance grant, Tobacco Region Opportunity Fund, in the amount of $100,000 from the Tobacco Commission based on the investment and jobs created as listed above. Additionally, the business is locating in a designated Enterprise Zone and therefore will be eligible for grants from the State as well as from the locality based on real property improvements and jobs created. Job training grants may also be available to the company for four of the new positions through State programs.
“We are pleased to announce today, the launch of our new company Coast 2 Coast Trucking,” said Robert Szafranski. “Due to our growth at ABC Recycling in Kenbridge, VA, Alpha Recycling in Bronx, NY and Power Metal Recycling in Toronto, Canada, we were placed in a position where outsourcing our trucking needs has been unable to meet our demands. Bringing our trucking business locally to Kenbridge, VA has now become a reality with the assistance of Lunenburg County, the Town of Kenbridge, the Tobacco Commission and other state agencies. We are extremely grateful for everyone's support and look forward to announcing job opportunities in the near future.”
“The Commonwealth of Virginia prides itself on the entrepreneurial spirit,” said Governor Terry McAuliffe. “The expansion of a thriving metal recycling company, ABC Recycling, which will start a nationwide trucking company, Coast 2 Coast Trucking, is a prime example of this spirit. We thank Coast 2 Coast for choosing Virginia, and wish them great success in Lunenburg County.”
“Lunenburg County’s dedicated workforce, inexpensive costs of living and high quality of life is a fitting home for Coast 2 Coast Trucking,” stated Virginia Secretary of Commerce and Trade Maurice Jones. “The area will be a great environment for Coast 2 Coast to operate at maximum profits and grow jobs for folks in Southside.”
“With the success of its sister company, ABC Recycling, I hope that Coast 2 Coast Trucking, Inc. will grow strongly in Lunenburg County as well”, said Delegate Tommy Wright, a member of the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission. “The creation of 21 jobs and the investment of over $3.7 million represents a great valuable business in rural Southern Virginia. I am proud that the Tobacco Commission was able to provide a performance incentive to this new company, and I wish the company safe and successful travels as they grow.”>
"I am delighted to see a local company grow and expand offering employment opportunities for those in our region," said Senator Frank M. Ruff, a member of the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission. “I am especially pleased that the Tobacco Commission is able to participate in this growth.”
"This is exciting news for Virginia's Growth Alliance. I commend Lunenburg County for the hard work that they have put into winning this project for the region. Coast 2 Coast will add good jobs to our ever diversifying economy and strengthens our claim that we are competitive with any region in the country,” said Jeff Reed, Executive Director of Virginia’s Growth Alliance.
“Lunenburg County is looking forward to the growth of this expansion company from ABC Recycling,” said Edward Pennington, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of Lunenburg County. “The ABC trucks, which will be transferred to Coast 2 Coast, are distinctively recognizable and carry the Kenbridge name all over the east coast. We are so happy that they have chosen to remain in our community where they are thriving. We wish to thank the Tobacco Commission, the state agencies, the VGA and the Governor’s office for their funding and support through this process.”
“Coast 2 Coast Trucking, Inc. is exciting news for the citizens of Kenbridge in the form of new jobs, a new company, and spreading the recycling message,” said Emory Hodges, Mayor of Kenbridge. Working with Lunenburg County and the partners of Coast 2 Coast, the Town Council hopes that this new business experiences the continued success that ABC Recycling has found in our community.”
